EVOLVE WITH GRAHAM CURRAN
" As an artist I want to convey a message to the viewer through selected imagery, invoking any sort of response is my objective. My subject matter always changes depending on what I find fascinating, frustrating or beautiful in the world. My goal is to evolve my art, to never become stagnant." - Graham Curran 2011
Graham Curran is an artist from Torrance, CA and is showing at Crewest during December for the Crewest Holiday Bazaar. Born in 1986 Graham graduated from CSULB in 2010 with a BFA in Illustration.
When selecting the artists who were going to show for the December show, it was Grahams beautiful imagery painted on boxing gloves which really captured our eye. We saw his artwork painted on boxing gloves to be very unique and something we definitely wanted to show and display for all to see.
Look below for a sneak peak of these beautiful boxing gloves, inspired by Rocky IV, in which Graham has titled "The Fighter's".
"The Fighters" are not all we will have on display by Graham Curran. Also on display by this artist will be the above painting titled "Big Glow", a set of Russian nesting dolls titled "It’s a Zoo in Here" and a custom Munny inspired by Mad Men titled "Mad Munny".
If you want to see "It's a Zoo in Here" and "Mad Munny" as well as the other artwork by Graham, you will need to come on by and check out these pieces while they are on display in December.
If you have any questions, you may contact us via email at info@crewest.com and we will be happy to assist you.

VETERANO BY OSCAR MAGALLANES
Oscar Magallanes has shown at Crewest on numerous occasions and was even our featured artist for last year’s Top of the Dome. Now, Oscar Magallanes currently has on display another one of his signature style pieces “Veterano” during our Faces of Skid Row Exhibition.
Veterano is a representation of the beliefs of the artist and is mixed media on wood.
The artist’s statement of beliefs are as follows:
“I believe we need to identify that which is harmful to our community and our environments and we must actively work towards positive change. I also believe that we as a community need to educate ourselves in our history in order to provide a strong basis as to who we are as people of our descent and help celebrate our cultures and the struggles that we, and those before us have persevered. I am an artist, and it is with these beliefs that I create my art."
If interested in purchasing this piece (or other works from "Faces of Skid Row") go to our Available Works Section (click here)
If you have any questions please contact us at info@crewest.com.

INSIGHT INTO THE WORKS OF MICK LA ROCK
Sweet Things is coming to an end and we would hate to not be able to share with you the following insight regarding the works of Mick La Rock which are available and ready for just the right collector:
“In both works there is lettering. It says my name (my heritage as a graffiti writer). The style I developed over the last 10 years.
In the first half of the 2000's I painted it on walls. Painting these lines is hard to do with spray paint: the result never as sharp as I have in mind. My urge to create lines by hand like they'd be computer vectors has driven me from the walls towards canvas.
The readability of the letters are minor importance than the shape and the composition of the word itself. Letters are rotated, pulled out of their basic shape. Letters are positioned and/or connected in unexpected directions.
Functions of the basic elements of a piece are changed: empty spaces between letters become letters themselves. The same can happen to the sections of fill-in colors.
The importance of the lettering in my work is emphasized by the four color palette. The use of black and white refer to (and show my love for) the traditional outline and highlight colors used in graffiti.” – Mick la Rock
