Artist Info:
Gusmano Cesaretti, born in Lucca, Italy, and a resident of Los Angeles since 1970, has been capturing the sound, light, and even emotional tenor of his adopted city through the lens of his camera.

Gusmano has published two books: Street Writers- A Guided Tour of Chicano Graffiti, and Physical Graffiti-4x4=24. He is a contributing photographer to the book, 24 Hours in the Life of Los Angeles. His photographs have been exhibited at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. In 2008, Gusmano participated in a major collaborative exhibition entitled, This Side of Paradise: Body and Landscape in Los Angeles Photographs at the Huntington Library.

Fourteen of Gusmano's photographs are part of the permanent collection at the Smithsonian Institute (Smithsonian photo link) in Washington, D. C. and the Museum of Contemporay Art, Los Angeles. The many countries that Gusmano has made photographic studies of include: Mexico, Central and South America, Haiti, and South East Asia.

The event kicks off at 7 pm running till 10 pm and will feature our artists in-store, designing limited edition hats while you watch!

We encourage you to place a bid on any of these one of a kind creations you may wish to add to your personal Kangol collection.

The silent auction will run the entire month of May with the winning bidders announced May 31st!

The Art Exhibition Experience

Opening Reception:
Thursday, January 8th, 2009 from 6pm - 10pm during the Downtown Artwalk.

Join Crewest as we enter the New Year and bring LA an entirely new art exhibition experience featuring Live Painting by “Unification Theory”. Core members include visual artist Overton Loyd (from legendary Funk band Parliament-Funkadelic), renown graffiti artist Man One and visual artist/writer Gustavo Alberto Garcia Vaca. The unification of these diverse creative minds along with the live music by Thrillharmonic Orchestra (Improvisational Funk Fusion) and cuts by DJ Phyz Ed build new visual and sonic structures. This innovative collaboration of live music, DJ mixing, and live painting is a new form of performance. Artwork created during past Unification Theory performances as well as pieces created that night will be available for purchase throughout the month.

Closing Night Party:
January 31st from 6pm to 9pm

Featuring live painting by Unification Theory and special guest painter Favianna Rodriguez and live music by Lonnie Marshall and DJ Phyz Ed spinning Hip Hop
jams.

Exhibit runs through January 31st.

THE SONIC ENTRANCE ART EXHIBITION

The SonicEntrance is an art exhibition of P-Funk, Hip Hop, Jazz and
Techno artworks. Each artist in this exhibition creates music-inspired
artwork - creating artwork for record covers, tour posters, concert
projections, live painting and music videos. From P-Funk music
innovator George Clinton to Techno visualist/writer Gustavo Alberto
Garcia Vaca, from Hip Hop designer Brent Rollins to art
director/designer Hideki Nakajima who works with Academy Award-winning
composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, and more; The SonicEntrance art exhibition
is a unique collection of music-inspired artworks. The art exhibition
includes one-of-a-kind paintings, original sketches, digital prints,
graffiti paintings and limited-edition prints.
