SWEET THINGS, on view from July 8th, 2010 through August 1st, 2010 and curated by
INDIE 184 and
Andrea von Bujdoss AKA “Queen Andrea”. Sweet Things is an all female urban art group show focusing on canvases, prints, photography, illustration and merchandise of emerging female urban artists, as well as legendary, internationally-recognized female artists. Explorations of graffiti, urban illustration, tattoo art, portraiture and fashion will be emphasized. Large, major paintings, smaller works, drawings and photography will live together. The opening night will feature live mural painting with characters, pieces and calligraphy by Curator
Queen Andrea and Artist
Muck alongside the popular DJ Phyz Ed, plus free giveaways from
Kid Robot!. In conjunction with the exhibition, Crewest will feature an eye-popping installation by their July Featured Artist,
Sherm.
In the Featured Artist Room, Sherm will be creating an installation featuring a variety of new and recent works that range from sweet to dark, mixed in with spiritual & symbolic themes; and whatever occupies the female psyche (from the point of view of the artist).
The exhibition promises to be a bold exposé of urban art from a female perspective, highlighting new works by a synergistic group of talented, kick-ass female urban fine artists and photographers.

Crewest is a gallery that supports some of the most talented underground artists from the West Coast and beyond. The gallery's focus is on urban & graffiti art created through painting, sculpture, digital, and print medias. All of the exhibits housed at Crewest deal with what is current, and significant within the realm of the urban art experience. Curator Indie184 is a graffiti artist hailing from Washington Heights, New York City. Growing up all over NYC she began to participate in the graffiti culture in 2001. Determined to express herself to the world through art, she taught herself how to sew, paint and produce graphic design. She is known for her simple playful feminine graffiti style lettering. You can find her graffiti pieces from the South Bronx to Berlin. Indie’s graffiti was featured the record breaking Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto IV video game. Her current endeavors include directing her streetwear brand Kweenz Destroy, curating art exhibitions and producing graphic design work for Pro-Keds, Super Rad Toys and Bic Plastics to name a few. www.indie184.comCurator Andrea von Bujdoss AKA “Queen Andrea” is a native New Yorker who was raised in the vibrant Soho neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. Andrea's passion for urban art and graphic design surfaced at an early age. In the early 1990s, she began to learn graffiti history and developed important friendships and mentoring relationships with some of the most notable New York City old school graffiti writers. Andrea earned her BFA in Graphic Design from Parsons and began a successful Graphic Design career, working for worldwide brands who appreciate the urban creative flavor of her work. These days, she is one of the most traditionally skilled female graffiti artists in the country, possessing an explosively creative style inspired by the excitement of the urban landscape. Her custom lettering portfolio has grown beyond graffiti and is a comprehensive collection of letter studies and design explorations. She has been featured in art shows, toy shows, magazines, books, fashion lines and brand collaborations. Andrea has curated and exhibited in numerous exhibitions in NYC. Visit Queen Andrea online at:
